The Company

Add an annual turnover of more than $12 billion to a rental and leasing fleet made up of more than one million vehicles spread across some 7,600 locations worldwide and you get Enterprise Rent-A-Car - a business that’s grown into the largest car rental company in North America and arguably, the world.

Of course, bigger doesn't always mean better. There can be a downside to success, and it's usually the employees who end up bearing the brunt. But not at Enterprise.

The fact is, we owe our success to each and every one of our people, from senior managers to management trainees alike. We firmly believe in empowering each of them to make the decisions that will affect their work and their career. This philosophy, along with our uncompromising commitment to customers, is what has made Enterprise a genuine success story and a truly special place to work.

Just imagine the possibilities that come with joining a huge, internationally successful business with the type of personal, entrepreneurial approach which allows individuals to stand out. Our secret lies in the fact that we're divided up into thousands of smaller, local businesses. So when you take one of our train you'll be learning how to run the business yourself. And how many organisations with a $12 billion turnover can say that?

As for tomorrow? Rest assured - with the plans we have in place, our future is set to be a bright and rewarding one. And, as an Enterprise management trainee, you’ll be one of the new generation helping us write the next chapter of our success story.

Training & Profiles

Management Training Programme

Our Management Training Programme allows you to develop the skills you’ll need to move into senior management. With our help, you’ll hone your talents in key areas such as sales and marketing, customer service and finance. It’s entirely possible to be a Branch Manager within just two years of starting, and it really is up to you how fast you move up.

Our career progression
Throughout the scheme, there's a series of carefully monitored tests and evaluations, after which you'll receive pay increases, rewards, and more opportunities for promotion, working your way up to Branch Manager, then Area Manager, City Manager and beyond. You'll also have the opportunity to specialise if you find an area of the business you're particularly interested in, such as HR, Marketing or Finance.

Case Studies

Case study: Shamik Patel

Name: Shamik Patel
Role: Branch Manager
Joined: 2006
Business area: Rental

The main reason why I joined Enterprise Rent-A-Car was because I wanted to embark on a genuine career, and not just take up a job. I quickly realised that Enterprise could offer me a fast and carefully structured Management Training Programme where I would gain promotions based on performance rather than tenure in the company. In short, I didn’t want to have to wait 10 years or more to get promoted, and wanted to be sure I was in full control of my career path.

During my time here, I’ve been lucky enough to work at four different Enterprise Rent-A-Car branches. I started at our Park Royal office and then moved across to our Palmers Green location. Due to a promotion to Assistant Manager, I got a chance to go to Walthamstow – still during my first year with the company. Eight months later, I was promoted to Branch Manager at Walthamstow. Currently, I’m Branch Manager at our Enfield location, managing a team of seven people and getting the best out of them.

The training and development I’ve received has given me a lot of tools to help with this. It’s taught me all sorts of things, from different coaching styles and motivational techniques to delegation and time management. It’s also helped me to improve my customer service and sales skills – both of which I rely on every day.

In terms of a typical day; there isn’t one. Each day is different from the last, and the variety that brings helps me stay really motivated. Due to the line of business we’re in, the constant customer interaction and the different accounts I get to work on, virtually anything can happen during the course of an average day.

To sum things up, I’d say that Enterprise offers an opportunity quite unlike any other. You ’ll be thrown straight in at the deep end in terms of business management, in a fast paced environment where the ability to think quickly on your feet is essential. Yes, the learning curve is steep and you’ll be expected to work hard – but the scope for rapid career progression is virtually unrivalled.
