Aviation specialists are fastening their seatbelts after it emerged that more than 1,000 jobs are being created by no-frills airline Ryanair, as it looks to boost its fleet and bases across Europe.
The operator said it will be bringing in pilots and engineers as well as marketing staff as it boosts its fleet from 270 aircraft to 305, adding 10% to its 8,000-strong workforce - a great opportunity for graduate recruitment.
The expansion comes as Ryanair cuts the ribbon on new bases in Billund, Denmark, Wroclaw in Poland, Palma in Spain, Paphos in Cyprus and Manchester back in the UK.
Ryanair reported profits of £467.5 million in the six months up to September 30, an increase of 20%, with a 13% rise in average fares helping it to offset fuel price rises.
The group expects traffic to grow from 76 million passengers in 2011 to 80 million in 2012. A Ryanair spokesman said some of the new jobs would be created in the UK, pending final details.
