Graduates seeking production opportunities will be boosted by a survey showing that almost half of UK high tech manufacturers are planning a recruitment drive in 2012.
Results from the third wave of the GE High Tech Index in November/December 2011 revealed that 46% of firms are looking to increase staff over the next 12 months.
Despite the widespread financial gloom, 71% of the 362 firms questioned remain upbeat about their prospects this year.
Almost half (45%) also said they are expecting growth of over 5%, while 26% are even forecasting growth rates of more than 10%.
Many of the respondents also believe the Eurozone problems could provide fresh opportunities for manufacturers.
A large majority of those asked (73%) remain confident about current trading, while 29% are very positive and 44% are fairly positive.
Growing demand from emerging markets was highlighted as a key reason for the ongoing optimism in the sector, along with internal improvements and changes to the business environment.
