A total of 45 new graduates have been employed by Ernst & Young in Newcastle this year, more than by any other professional services company in the North East.
The accountancy and advisory company has also hired four new senior employees, increasing the number of staff working at Ernst & Young's Citygate offices to 300.
Mark Hatton, office managing partner at Ernst & Young Newcastle, said: "Major new client wins and a marked upturn in transactions activity has led to significant growth over the past year. The expansion of our team will lead to greater strength in depth and ensure we continue to provide the highest quality of service to our clients.
"Supplementing our experienced appointments with the recruitment of some of the North East's brightest young graduate talent will help cement our position as a pre-eminent provider of professional services in the region."
The Citygate offices have been refitted to accommodate the increased workforce and the company is currently looking to expand the premises.
