Graduates may wish to turn to the West Midlands after a global telecommunications services company unveiled plans to create 300 new customer service job openings at a call centre in Sandwell.
London-based BT begun the recruitment process last week as part of its drive to bring back work from overseas. It is expected that the new staff will be placed in early 2012.
According to the telecoms giant, positive discussions with Communication Workers Union (CWU) have helped to make sure that the new job roles are permanent and Britain-based rather, than third party positions.
Chief executive of BT, Ian Livingston, said: "We all know how difficult the job market is, so the fact BT is bringing more than 300 further roles to the area is great news and is a reflection of the efforts and co-operation of both the CWU and Sandwell council."
Currently the firm employs 93,000 workers, including 76,000 in the UK.
