Graduates can hope for more jobs as Dubai-based DP World after the firm announced the creation of an extra 1,000 new jobs for the London Gateway project.

In the coming months, the £1.5 billion project will need to hire some 700 construction workers and 300 port staff.

Located on the Thames estuary, the deep water port is set to open in the next two years and is expected to pave the way for the creation of 36,000 direct and indirect jobs.

The port and logistics park is also expected to boost the UK's economy by £3.2 billion a year.

DP World has been laying the foundations for the project since early 2010 at the site near Thurrock in Essex, and around 600 people are involved in the project.

With the completion of the London Gateway, which is designed as a national hub port, Britain will be able to accommodate the world's largest container ships and provide shipping access for businesses to an integrated road, rail and sea network.
