Santander UK has created hundreds of jobs after moving its call centre operation from India to Britain, which could benefit graduates across the country.
The Banking giant, which is owned by Spanish parent Banco Santander, announced the move on Friday following customer complaints.
The UK's biggest bank is likely to create around 500 UK-based jobs as a result of the move.
The decision follows customer feedback which stated that offshore call centres were a "frustration that can lead to dissatisfaction".
The call centres were originally outsourced by Abbey, as it was known in 2003, with two moved to India, one to Pune and one to Bangalore.
Ana Botin, chief executive of Santander UK, said: "Improving the service we offer is my top priority. Our customers tell us they prefer our call centres to be in the UK and not offshore. We have listened to the feedback and have acted by re-establishing our call centres back here."
The company employs around 2,500 staff across its UK call centres and has taken on 500 extra people to deal with around 1.5 million calls each month.
