New jobs, possibly including come for graduates, are to be created in the UK when New Call Telecom moves its call centre operation from India's Mumbai to Burnley in Lancashire.
Nigel Eastwood, chief executive of New Call Telecom, said: "I think this is a wonderful opportunity to help improve the local economy and ensure that our customers are receiving the best service we can give them. For us, good value very much includes good service."
The firm decided to move its call centre operation after soaring costs in India meant that outsourcing work to the South Asian country is no longer cheaper than doing it in the UK.
Mr Eastwood said the prospect of using committed British employees and providing improved customer experience also encouraged them to make the decision.
He added that running the call centre in the UK with local workers would also help reduce costs in the average amount of time taken to deal with customer enquiries.
The telecoms firm has also announced plans to expand its offices in Glasgow and London in the near future.
