Graduates schooled in action to tackle climate change could be in the running for jobs within a new research centre at Edinburgh University.
More than 80 jobs are being created at the Edinburgh Centre on Climate Change (ECCC), which aims to be a world leader in climate research and the development of low-carbon products and services.
More than £1.6 million will be invested by the Scottish Government in the centre, which is expected to bring a £167 million boost to the economy north of the border.
Experts from the centre, to open in 2013, will advise Scottish businesses on how to increase their bottom line by saving energy using the latest green technologies.
ECCC director Andy Kerr said the site will aim to be an "inspiring physical space to support low carbon innovation in Scotland and the development and delivery of low carbon professional skills".
He added: "This innovation will support Scotland and the other countries to meet stretching low carbon targets while thriving economically."
