Graduates looking for jobs in the performing arts might want to look towards Walsall, where work on a £10 million centre at a Wolverhampton University campus is steaming ahead.
Work to build The Performance Hub on a site off Gorway Road is going well and already more prospective students are applying to take courses there.
There will be music facilities, theatre space, dance studios, a library and offices in the striking four-storey centre, which will boast a glass front with large green lettering.
It aims to give dancers, musicians, writers, researchers, actors and choreographers from across the West Midlands a place to work together.
VINCI is contracting on the project. Senior capital projects manager Paul Davis said: "The copper cladding, glazing and roofing works are nearing completion ensuring that the building is substantially weather-tight.
"The complex acoustic internal fit-out is progressing well, together with mechanical and electrical installations."
The Performance Hub bosses said they believe the striking building will be a stylish addition to the view of Walsall.
John Pymm, dean of the school of sport, performing arts and leisure, said: "The building looks stunning and I'm sure we're the envy of every university in the country in having a building like this.
"There's been a surge in applications for next year and all of our students are really excited about The Performance Hub."
