In good news for graduates of a scientific discipline, a total of 300 jobs are to be created at Sharp's facility at Wrexham following the announcement that the company is to expand production of solar panels.
Through the expansion at the North Wales site, Sharp expects to increase production capacity by two-fold at the facility, with another 3,000 panels being created on a daily basis.
For Sharp, which is the biggest solar panel manufacturer in Europe, the addition of more jobs will bring the workforce strength to 1,100.
According to the company, the system whereby people are paid for the energy they create from individual renewable sources, called feed-in tariffs, has been a "shot in the arm" for the solar sector.
Andrew Lee, head of international sales for Sharp, said: "This job creation proves that there is an appetite for solar technology in the UK and that this sector has huge growth potential, bucking the trend in the wider economy."
Chris Huhne, Energy and Climate Change Secretary, said: "This is excellent news for the solar industry and for Sharp, which shows that green growth is a vital part of our economic recovery.
"Since feed in tariffs began, the scheme has stimulated a market in solar panels which has seen around 19,000 installed to date."
