Graduate surveyors will be encouraged by the positive financial results issued by Kent-based housebuilder Bovis Homes.
The group is expected to exceed City pre-tax profit forecasts of £16.3 million after reporting a 4% increase in average selling prices to £160,700 in 2010, while sales completions rose 5%.
Another housebuilding firm, Persimmon, has also upped its profits forecasts for 2010, despite the housing market suffering from economic uncertainty and mortgage lending constraints.
Bovis said its 2010 selling price hike was driven by private sales, with 1,592 completions against 309 for social homes.
The group has a forward order book of 420 homes for 2011, which it said had held firm against underlying orders seen at the start of 2010.
