Prudential has sounded the jobs siren for graduates interested in a career in the insurance industry with the announcement of a new target to double profits made from new business in Asia by 2013.
Addressing investors in London, chief executive Tidjane Thiam said Prudential wants to double the £713 million profit made last year from all new contracts in Asia.
The strategy follows a similar drive to double profits between 2005 and 2009, with the firm insisting that the potential for growth in its chosen markets will enable it to achieve its new target.
Mr Thiam said: "The objectives for Asia reflect our belief that Asia will continue to offer the highest growth and highest return opportunities for a generation or more.
"Market conditions in Asia continue to be positive, with Asian economies performing strongly in spite of a challenging global environment."
