Graduates looking for a London IT job will be interested to hear that the most sought-after positions are for people with skills in Java, .NET, PHP, SEO and web development, according to a survey of the industry.
The average wage for permanent IT employees has increased by 2% over the last year, the study found. The average salary is now almost £37,000.
A total of 50 different types of IT position across 7,000 jobs which had been advertised in the first quarter of the year were considered by the study.
"We have seen that confidence has returned to the IT Jobs market over the last 12 months and as a result salaries have risen by 2%. We noticed that in Q4 last year that there was a large increase in vacancies, largely caused by pent up demand from employers who had been sitting tight during the economic slowdown," said Matthew Iveson, managing director of CV Screen, the firm who carried out the research.
