A University of Derby graduate is urging occupational therapists to use modern technology to help those with mental health problems.
Jade Nixon, 21, examined how this group had difficulties accessing new technology as part of her degree in Occupational Therapy.
She said she found too much focus was given to arts and crafts while the internet and MP3 players, which provide significant social benefits, were ignored, leaving them "digitally excluded" from society.
Miss Nixon now works as an occupational therapist for South Staffordshire and Shropshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust after securing a 2:1 in her degree.
Miss Nixon will be among 2,000 students receiving their degree certificates from the university in ceremonies at the city's Assembly Rooms over the weekend.
