Four graduates have began their chartered accountants training in Plymouth after they were recruited by leading professional services firm KPMG.
The new employees have joined the firm's audit practice which will see them study for their professional qualification.
Phillip Osgathorpe, Rebecca Lambert, Sarah Mitchell and Sihui Zeng won the positions, beating the employment problems caused by the recession.
Ian Brokenshire, senior partner at KPMG's Plymouth office, said: "Despite the tough current economic conditions we strongly believe it is essential to have the next generation of talent coming up through the ranks at KPMG.
"We are pleased to have four such bright young people joining our team and wish them every success in their careers."
The new recruits will work alongside some of the top organisations in Devon and Cornwall, including: the South West Regional Development Agency, Plymouth City Development Company, Rittal CSM, X Fab, Marjon, Kawasaki Precision Machinery and the Theatre Royal Plymouth.
Mr Brokenshire said: "This year's graduate intake follows the five graduates we recruited last year which, along with the senior appointments we are currently making within our tax team, underline KPMG's commitment to Plymouth."
