A French and Italian language graduate secured a new job in unorthodox fashion - by advertising himself on Trafalgar Square's fourth plinth.
Swansea University graduate, Alex Kearns, 23, displayed a giant copy of his CV during his one hour stint on the plinth. The graduate, from Kingston-upon-Thames, listed his abilities in three foreign languages and highlighted his interests including "plinth dwelling". He left his contact details and waved a "Give Me a Job" placard.
Mr Kearns attracted the attention of a London business consultancy and was contacted shortly after his time on the plinth. He attended an interview and later learned he got the job.
"In the current climate you have to work hard to stand out from the crowd. I saw this as a golden opportunity to sell myself," said Mr Kearns, talking to the Evening Standard. "It certainly paid off because my new boss was impressed that I had some get-up-and-go."
The Fourth Plinth is currently being used to show an Antony Gormley exhibition, where a member of the public has the opportunity to occupy the plinth for an hour, 24 hours a day, over 100 days. The project ends on October 14.
