The opening of a new research and development centre in the west of Ireland will create 30 high-skilled IT jobs.
American IT group Lumension is to open an office in Co Galway, with the help of Industrial Development Agency Ireland.
Housing and local service minister Michael Finneran said the decision by Lumension to set up an office in Ireland shows the country's "attractiveness as a technology hub".
Lumension develops, integrates and markets IT security software that helps business protect data and networks.
The company headquarters are in Arizona, and it also has offices in the United Kingdom, Luxembourg and Spain.
Colleen Shannon of Lumension said Galway had been selected because of the Irish Government's drive in attracting new technology companies.
Mr Finneran said: "The decision by a company of the calibre of Lumension to choose Ireland as the location for this significant investment in information technology adds further impetus to Ireland's reputation as a leading location for software development operations".
