Charities launch graduate scheme - graduate jobs

Tue 17th Feb 2009, 03:32PM   about second-jobber.com news.

Graduates looking to work in the charity sector are being encouraged to apply for a new two-year internship programme.

The Charity Works training scheme has been established by five national charities giving successful applicants the opportunity to experience a variety of corporate positions and earn £20,000 a year.

Advance, RSPCA, Terrence Higgins Trust, Together Working for Wellbeing and The Children's Society are all pulling together to promote the sector and offer graduates a career opening.

Isabelle Simons Evans, HR director at The Children's Society, said: "It is essential to look ahead and prepare ourselves for the upturn.

"We know we will always need management and leadership talent. Charity Works is an innovative and cost-effective way to attract new talent, as well as an opportunity to reach out to graduates who are in our organisations now and want to stay."

The scheme will initially run as a pilot, beginning on September 1, and other charities will be able to join Charity Works by sponsoring a graduate placement.
