Graduates looking for a career as an accountant will be buoyed by the news PricewaterhouseCoopers is offering 1,000 places to graduates this year despite the economic downturn.
The finance group, which has been voted the UK's top graduate employer for five years in a row, said the positions would be available at 40 locations across the UK showing that "it`s business as usual".
The announcement comes after High Fliers Research showed the UK's leading employers are planning to cut graduate recruitment by a sixth.
But PricewaterhouseCoopers has bucked the trend and will still offer a vast number of places to graduates.
Sonja Stockton, head of student recruitment, said: "We believe it's a long-term investment for our firm that puts us in the best position to ride out the current economic downturn.
"Our April 2009 programme, which we are recruiting for now, is ideal for students who graduated in June 2008, those considering changing careers or returning from gap years."
