Graduate Buyer
The Role
RM’s Hardware Solutions division delivers nearly half of the company’s revenue and profit and is therefore a very significant area of the business. PC hardware is a very competitive business and a high calibre purchasing team is essential to the success of the business. RM recognises purchasing as a key function and is committed to recruiting, developing and retaining high quality purchasing professionals.
Components for all HWS manufactured products are procured by the HWS Purchasing Team from a global supplier base.
Major commodities include; processors, memory, hard drives, main boards, optical storage, monitors, cases, power supplies, notebooks and low cost netbooks and we manage the strategic relationships with key suppliers such as Intel and Microsoft.
Principle Accountabilities
In your role as a Graduate Buyer at RM, you will:
• Be part of a team of 22 and will report into one our Purchasing Managers
• Be responsible for the overall management of the supply chain for a number of key commodities
• Develop and implement sourcing strategies and supplier selection on key commodities that support the overall business strategy
• Develop supply chains to achieve 100% material availability to ensure customer delivery on time while optimising inventory and managing costs and obsolescence.
• Manage key supplier relationships to ensure conformance to RM quality, cost and delivery parameters and work to continuously improve performance
• Directly contribute to RM’s P&L through an understanding and benchmarking of global commodity purchasing to achieve best in class costs
• Work cross functionally within HWS, and other RM divisions to identify all future trends and customer requirements and support the introduction of new products to expedite time to market
• Audit all potential vendors manufacturing facilities for cost, quality and delivery

Training and Development
Within your first year you will work on a graduate project, along with other graduates and supported by a senior director within RM.
You will work alongside experienced buyers and we also offer 1:1 mentoring to help you focus on developing your job specific knowledge and interpersonal skills. There are a range of internal and external courses available and RM fully support further study and would expect you to study to achieve your MCIPS qualification within your first couple of years.
Required Experience / Qualifications
A minimum of a 2:1 degree in a business related discipline.
260 UCAS points or equivalent.
You will need:
• Excellent planning and organisation skills
• Tenacity and drive to achieve the best results; initiating action where needed
• Ability to negotiate and influence
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Problem solving abilities
Preferred experience will also include:
• CIPS qualification
• Experience in a purchasing environment
Candidates must also expect and be prepared for a small level of European and/or overseas travel.
